Pray The Vote

It is easy to feel that one vote is too small to matter. Yet God often invites His people to participate even when the outcome looks uncertain.

“For who hath despised the day of small things?” (Zechariah 4:10)
“…your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)

Choosing not to vote means stepping away from that invitation entirely.

Time is limited. Start with what you can do—national races, or one local issue that matters. Begin with prayer, then a few primary sources: voting records and the candidate’s own words.

“Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15–16)

True—modern ballots are never mentioned in Scripture. Still, God invites His people into the systems He allows.

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord…” (Proverbs 21:1)
“The powers that be are ordained of God.” (Romans 13:1)
“…prayers… for kings, and for all that are in authority…” (1 Timothy 2:1–2)

Kingdoms in the Old Testament rose and fell in messy ways, yet Daniel, Joseph, Nehemiah, and Esther still served inside imperfect governments.

“And seek the peace of the city… and pray unto the Lord for it.” (Jeremiah 29:7)

God has often worked through imperfect and even unbelieving leaders. We are choosing a civil leader, not a pastor. Character still matters, yet every ruler’s heart remains in the Lord’s hand.

“He removeth kings, and setteth up kings…” (Daniel 2:21)
Cyrus, a pagan king, was called God’s “anointed” for a purpose (Isaiah 45:1; Proverbs 21:1).
